Journaling
When you share your scrapbooks with friends or family it’s usually the photos or decorative elements that grab their immediate attention and elicit the “oohs & aahs!”. But it’s the journaling, the WORDS that are added to the page that make the viewer stop and take in more than just the visual interest on the page. They then get a chance to share in the moments and memories that the photos initially captured.
Journaling is such an important element on a page but so many of us skip this vital step in favor of using more embellishments or adding more photos. Nothing makes up for the story however. Without the story a photo is anonymous, but with a story, the photo becomes and stays alive. Imagine finding a box of photos in the attic or basement. They are old and somewhat faded yet still fascinating. But there is no writing to be found – no names, dates or places listed. No clues as to who the people in the photos were, or what they were like. It would be quite sad actually. Now imagine finding an old album and seeing not only the photos but stories and information to go with them. It would be much more interesting and gratifying to read and learn about the people and places in those photos!
In this section you will find information and inspiration for adding authentic journaling to your scrapbook pages.
